Staging Tips for Home Sellers

092517Photo2When your house is listed for sale, you want to do all you can to help potential buyers see how wonderful your home can be for them. Staging your home can help in a variety of ways. It can decrease the time your house is listed on the market, make it easier for a buyer to picture the space as a future home, and can even increase the buyer’s offer. With these things in mind, let’s look at some tips for staging your home.

Get Rid of Clutter

Take a look at each room and see what you can remove, both large and small items. Remove furniture which crowds the room and makes it look smaller. Clear surfaces of furniture and countertops, and store items or hide them from view. Focus especially on decluttering closets to show off storage space.

Rearrange Furniture

It may be necessary to move items around in a room, or from one room to another to create a more open look. Consider the space and what others might use it for; create a reading area in a large master bedroom or transform a junk room into livable space.

Warm and Welcoming

If you have a wall color which may not appeal to many people, change it to a warm, neutral shade. Lighting can also help a room feel inviting. A good goal is 100 watts for each 50 square feet.

Add Color with Accessories092517photo1

Feel like a room is too neutral? Bring in accessories to add a pop of color. Odd numbers are pleasing to the eye, especially three of something. Flowers will add color to a room and will also bring in a pleasant scent. Use them straight from your garden for a more personal touch!

Clean and Fix

A solid cleaning to take scuffs marks off walls, and grease from kitchen cabinets will do a world of good! Go around the house, inside and out, and finish projects, fix small things which a buyer may notice.
