When you are selling your home, you want your property to appeal to buyers. You may know what to do to make the inside stand out, but what can you do to make the outside of your home encourage buyers to come in?
Take a good look at the front of your house and see what you can do to enhance the curb appeal. This is the first impression a buyer gets when approaching your home. With the hot California climate, your door may need a fresh coat of paint. Repaint the original color or change it up to a brighter shade. Look at other areas of the exterior and touch up where needed.
Be sure to keep your gutters clean; dirty ones can be a big turnoff for buyers. Check for any areas which can be pressure washed to remove any dirt and grime. Pressure washers can be rented at your local home improvement or hardware supply store. Check all outside lights and replace any necessary bulbs. Keep your lights on at night for anyone who might drive by to check out your listing.
Does your landscaping in the front yard look it’s best? Trim any bushes or shrubs you already have in place. Remove dead plants and replace with new ones. When planting new trees, bushes and flowers, ask your local nursery for some drought tolerant options, such as bougainvillea or a fountain butterfly bush. Once your plants are in place, use mulch around them to help curb weed growth and retain moisture.
After your front yard is taken care of, head around to the backyard. Make sure this space is a relaxing area for potential homeowners to visit. Carry through any landscaping theme from the front to back. If you have a deck or patio, use the power washer there, too. Include a seating area to help make the area inviting.
